New World Bank Project to Support Climate Resilient Agriculture for Farmers in Odisha

The Government of India, Government of Odisha and the World Bank signed a US$165 million loan agreement. It has been signed to support smallholder farmers strengthen the resilience of their production systems as well as diversify and improve the marketing of their produce, for increased income.

The Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture will be implemented in rural areas vulnerable to droughts and largely dependent on rainfed agriculture. It will benefit about 125,000 smallholder farmer households from 15 districts of Odisha managing 128,000 of agricultural land.

Central TB Division signs MoU to fight tuberculosis with the help of AI

The Central (tuberculosisTB Division of the Health Ministry has signed an MoU with Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence. Under the MoU, the division seeks to explore the application of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence technology in its fight against tuberculosis (TB).

Wadhwani AI would support the National TB programme by helping it become AI-ready. This would including developing, piloting, and deploying AI-based solutions.

Microsoft to train 5000 govt employees on AI, cloud

Microsoft India launched a program under which it will train 5000 government employees over the next year on AI (Artificial Intelligence) and cloud computing skills. This program was inaugurated by Amitabh Kant, chief executive of NITI Aayog. The program, called ‘Digital Governance Tech Tour’, will comprise of physical and virtual workshops. continue reading…
