Abdul Qadir, Pakistan’s master leg-spinner, passes away

Pakistan’s master leg-spinner Abdul Qadir died in Lahore after suffering from a massive cardiac arrest. He took 9 wickets for 56 in one test against West Indies at Faisalabad.

Abdul Qadir had represented Pakistan in 67 Tests and 104 ODIs between 1977 and 1993. The leg-spinner, known for his unusual action, picked up 236 wickets in the longest format of the game and finished his ODI career with 132 scalps.

Country’s first woman DGP Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya dies

India’s first woman Director General of Police (DGP), Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya, passed away in Mumbai and she was 72. She was undergoing treatment in a Mumbai hospital since the last five to six months. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, who live in Mumbai. Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattachary born in Himachal Pradesh, she was country’s second female Indian Police Service (IPS) officer after Kiran Bedi. Renowned Bangladeshi novelist Rizia Rahman passes away

Famous Bangladeshi novelist and the Ekushey Padak winning author Rizia Rahman passed away in Dhaka. She wins Ekushey Padak for Language and Literature.

She wrote in all genres of creative work including short stories, poems, essays, and children’s fiction but she was renowned for her novels. Bong Theke Bangla, Rokter Okshor and Ghar-Bhanga-Ghar are among some of his more well-known novels. continue reading…

American musician, Singer-songwriter David Berman is popularly known for his work with indie-rock band the Silver Jews. who formed the indie group ‘Silver Jews’ in the 1990s. Although the band primarily existed as a recording project for most of its existence, the Silver Jews toured regularly from 2005 until 2009.
