Agrarian festival ‘Nuakhai’ celebrated by western Odisha districts 

The much-awaited day, Agrarian festival Nuakhai, for the people of western Odisha districts came with much pomp and gaiety. The major agrarian festival of this region is being celebrated in every nook and corner collectively with much fanfare and religious fervour. People offer the newly harvested crop called Nabanha to their respective presiding deities.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also greeted people and prayed for peace and prosperity. International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik through his sand sculpture has wished people.

Devotees in large numbers thronged the Samaleswari temple to witness the ‘Nabanna Lagi’ ceremony and seek blessings of the goddess.

Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul locks and Kandangi sarees have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags. The Dindigul locks are known throughout the world for their superior quality and durability. It is unique as each is designed with different lever pattern. There are over 50 varieties of locks including mango lock, trick lock, door lock, and bell lock among others. The famous bright-coloured Kandangi saree, manufactured in Karaikudi taluk in Sivaganga district are spun by skilled weavers in the dimension 60 warp X 60 weft.


Meghalaya CM launches ‘walk to work’ campaign in the state

Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma launched the ‘Walk to Work’ campaign in the state. The campaign of Fit India Movement which has been launched in the country by the Prime Minister.
